September / October CGQC Goals

My goals for the Charming Girls quilt club for September / October will be to finish sewing my Martinique king size quilt top together and to sew on the borders.  My sewing machine is not working correctly and it will be in the shop for two weeks at the end of September.  So, my sewing will be limited this month.

Here’s a picture of my king size quilt with some of the rows ready to be sewn together.

My second goal will be to choose the pattern and fabric for my next quilt and get the fabric cut and ready for sewing.

Charming Girls Quilt Club August Goal – Finished!

Well….it’s the end of August and time to check up on my progress for my CGQC goal.  My goal was to piece all of the blocks for my king size bed quilt.  I did it!  The pictures below shows some of the remaining blocks for my quilt.  I have also started sewing some of the rows together too!  I’m looking forward to checking out the projects of the other Charming Girls finishes posted on their blogs.

Charming Girls July / August Goals

I started making a new quilt for my bed in June.  So far, it’s going pretty good.  My quilt will alternate two different blocks and I have started sewing the first set of blocks.  Here’s a picture of a portion of the quilt design drawing that I made in order to see what the finished quilt would look like when it’s done.

The fabric is ‘Martinique’ by 3 Sisters for Moda.  My goal for July / August is to get all of the blocks made and ready to be sewn together into rows.  This is a king size quilt, so I have A LOT of sewing to do before it is done!

Finished!

I finished putting the blocks together and adding the borders to my wall hanging made with Hunky Dory.  It was a fun little project with some fabric that is different from what I would normally choose.  This wall hanging reminds me of Springtime with all the fresh, bright colors.
Next up is a new quilt for my bed.  I’m going to be using Martinique, a new line of fabric from Moda.  I’m hoping to finish this new quilt by the end of August.

April CGQC Finishes

I only finished one of my goals this month, getting the borders sewn on my Christmas Quilt.
I’ve been working on my mini ‘Jelly Filled’ quilt made from Hunky Dory fabric by Moda.  Here’s a picture of the blocks I’ve finished so far.

I will be working on finishing the rest of the blocks next month.

Crazy Eight Quilt Finished!

I finished my Christmas quilt that is made with Crazy Eight fabric by Sandy Gervais for Moda.  Sewing the borders on this quilt was the first goal for my April CGQC projects.

Here are a couple of pictures of my completed quilt.

April CGQC Projects

OK……Here are my projects that I want to complete for the month of April.

My first goal is to sew the borders on my Crazy Eight quilt so that it will be done.

My second goal is to make a new wall hanging using ‘Hunky Dory’ by Chez Moi for Moda.

I am completely smitten by this fabric.  It’s a little ‘out of the box’ for me in terms of fabric style, but I really love this fabric!  I am going to make a wall hanging using this mini ‘Jelly Filled’ pattern by Thimble Blossoms.

This pattern is made using a honey bun.  I’m excited to see what this will look like when its done.

March CGQC Project

My goal for the CGQC for March was to finish 10 more blocks in the Christmas quilt I am making out of ‘Crazy Eight’ fabric by Sandy Gervais for Moda.  I completed the remaining blocks, added the setting triangles and sewed the blocks together.  As you can see by the pictures below, I haven’t put the borders on yet, but I will make that part of my goals for April.

I just barely finished getting the quilt top sewn together and gave it a really quick ironing today so I could snap a few pictures.  I will post a finished picture next month with the borders on and the quilt top is ironed so it will look nice.

Here is a close up picture of a few of the blocks…..

This quilt was the fourth quilt I have  made, so I’m still fairly new to quilting.  It was my first attempt at quarter square triangles.  I ended up paper piecing the blocks so that I could get the qst’s to look right.  It’s going to be a while before I tackle another pattern that has qst’s in it!!

I really love the rich colors in the Crazy Eight fabric.  Sandy Gervais designs such gorgeous fabric!  She just came out with a fun fabric group called ‘Frolic’ and she has another beautiful group coming out in December that is a Valentines group.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a post for my April CGQC goals.

Spring is Here

This Saturday is the official beginning of Spring.  It’s beginning to look like Spring here in Texas and the flowers are beginning to sprout after a fairly cold winter .

To celebrate the arrival of Spring, Kate Spain is having a giveaway on her blog. She is giving away a layer cake from her first fabric line ‘Verna’ from Moda.  You can visit Kate’s  blog here to see the fabric.  It’s really fun and I’m hoping to make a table topper with some of that fabric if I win the giveaway!
